Global Warming = Less Nutrition
Per a study written about in today's NYT: "Most of the 18 varieties of rice that were grown and harvested contained significantly less protein, iron and zinc than rice that is grown today. All of the rice varieties saw dramatic declines in vitamins B1, B2, B5 and B9, though they contained higher levels of vitamin E."

These were relatively empty to begin with.
And I see flaws in this study. Piping CO2 into a closed environment hardly replicates actual growing scenarios. Add to that, not rotating crops eliminates nutrients in soil as well. There is a lot more to what a plant is or isn’t than just the air.
Never liked studies that cherry pick just one things to try and prove a whole.

In both studies, researchers installed pipes that emitted carbon dioxide onto small open-air plots — rather than simply testing crops in enclosed greenhouses — to simulate future real-world conditions.
But what scientists have also found is that the chemical composition of a plant depends on the balance of the carbon dioxide it takes in from the air and the nutrients it absorbs from the soil.

It's not a big deal unless rice is your main source of protein, etc., as in some of the PURE study samples. Many of the healthiest populations use rice as a staple — for calories — and get their protein and iron and so on from other sources.OnTheBayou wrote:More empty calories!

theoretically. But this could also just be one anomoly with hundreds more to come.
Maybe those organic, non-GMO, gluten free, grass fed cows won't be able to extract as much O2 from the atmosphere. Yes, hyperbole.
