Best smart device for an 80 year old
My father got my mom a FitBit for Christmas. Now he wants a smart “watch.” He wants to monitor his heart rate and activity also. He plays golf regularly and uses the treadmill. I don’t think he needs an Apple Watch, but what would the tribe suggest?

My hubby had the newer FitBit smartwatch. I can't remember what it was called. It had a lot of bells and whistles. He actually didn't like it because he found it too complicated and you also need to have a phone, really, to make it worthwhile (hubby does not have a phone - I KNOW! ). So, if your dad can't manage a phone it might not be worth it.

My father has an iPhone and is fairly tech savvy.
I feel for you Ontario, my DH has a flip phone and refuses to change. So all the home things that use an app are on my phone!

Why not a fitbit Charge or Versa? I think if you go higher you're then into Apple Watch territory price wise. however, the AW does have the fall thing if you turn it on and considering he's 80 it might be a nice safety feature.

Good idea, NM. I will review all of his options with him.

My mother poo-pooed having a "fall thing" and thankfully my sister helped in that regard prior to her passing. She had more say that I.

Garmin also makes one with a fall alert.
