Week 51 stats:
COVID-19 news & status - Page 26 Cdc_de10

In Ohio, per the state's Covid site today, I can dig a little and find the following interesting stats:
If you are age < 60: "Cases" = 546978. Deaths=669 or 0.1223% of "cases"
If you are age < 70: "Cases" = 634152, Deaths = 1915 or 0.3020% of "cases"
We've had 9142 deaths attributed to Covid.
If you are over 80, your age group has had 4852 deaths or 53.070%
If you are 70 or older your age group has had 7227 deaths or 79.05%

Is there any interest in seeing the weekly updates I've been doing going into the new year?

I do like to see the stats. They are just stats after all. I think it would be interesting to see, as soon we will overlap with Covid. It will help us to see if the vaccine is making a difference too.

If anyone else has an opinion, please jump in.

I find it interesting - but honestly, I don't really understand the chart and what it is saying. I normally look at the total numbers of cases.

Wk 52 data.
Tomi, imo, the case count is highly inflated due to PCR tests normally being run at 40-45 cycles and the cycle count where the test goes positive is not reported. Fauci has said that any results beyond cycle 35 are not relevant, they simply show non reproducible genetic fragments.Fauci on PCR test

State of Ohio sends this to DW, I don't get one.

We will see if PA ever does something like that. In my case I could end up with quite a few delivered here. Both of my folks and my friends that lived here, his folks. All 4 of them are decease, and in his case many more years than mine. However, they continue to get mail.

2021 Week 1 Stats.
COVID-19 news & status - Page 26 2021_w10
I've cut down the historical data shown, still have it to support my forecast column numbers, just not shown.
Will change column heading of "linear regression" to forecast on next update.  the 2020 forecast numbers are from last weeks projection, using data from 2013 thru 2019. 2021 forecast uses numbers for the corresponding weeks from 2013 thru 2020.
Have rearranged columns to maybe provide a clearer view of what has happened.

In Ontario we've halved our case count in the last two weeks.

This is a serious question and not meant to incite....Where is the flu this year? Where are those tests and case numbers? How have we had a reportable "flu season" for the last 2 decades but not this year? Hmmm.....

When I was in the ER last weekend the nurse told me they aren't seeing any flu this year. My thought is - people are staying away from each other and for the most part wearing masks, I think people are also being very mindful about touching door knobs and such.......... It just isn't being transmitted.

Gov Dee-Whine has decided that things in Ohio have calmed down enough to reduce our restrictions. We now are allowed to be out until 11pm vs 10pm. Whoop de do.

He is looking at hospitalizations for this analysis, we are creeping down slowly on this metric, our 7 day daily averages are are now cases=3675, hospitalizations=219, deaths=70

Haven't heard of any changes here, but haven't looked either. I guess our biggest news is our Sec't Heath got promoted to the Fed level.

2021 data looks pretty funky so far. I will be watching to see how it looks after a few more weeks when CDC data is more fully populated. Weekly deaths should be running in the 55-65+K every week.

WHO provides updates on using PCR tests.W H O Update Suggests all labs now report the CT counts in their results. Soon coming, WHO & CDC will reduce the CT count for positive test results. Voila, we'll see amazing progress in the fight vs CV-19.

Meanwhile, we are embarked on a new mask wearing time line, Jo~ Bid~n's 100 days, which will take us to the end of April. During that time, be sure you follow Fauci's recent suggestion to wear two masks, maybe more.Fauci Two Mask.

Have you noticed the humor in seeing guys with full beards wandering around retail stores wearing the conventional blue masks or equivalent? I see lots of these guys while doing my PT job. Yeah, they are really blocking those viral particles. I'm still waiting for someone to announce that all men with beards should either shave so they can get a good fit (well sealed) with conventional masks, or wear specialized beard masks. I'm not holding my breath even though CDC has a doc about this topic: CDC beard infographic

I've seen a few infectious disease Dr's stating that 2 masks are more dangerous and makes it more likely you will get the virus transmitted to you. We will see how this plays out.

NM, Can you provide some information on what doctors said two masks are more dangerous and makes it more likely you will get Covid? I have searched Google and can only find info on how it increases your protection since N95 masks are still scarce.

Thank you

Excellent article. One well fitting mask is much better than two ill-fitting masks, which makes sense. I have noticed the double masking in medical settings for several months. Usually it was a tight fitting n95 with a fabric mask over it. I assumed it was to protect the n95 mask from getting dirty since they are still in short supply.
