Hello from Virginia!
Hello all! I was a long time lurker on the MDA forums. Like some of you, I'm getting back into primal after some time off and I thought I would introduce myself this time around.
Around 2011 I started reading about Weston Price and traditional diets in general. I've been primal off and on since then. The primal lifestyle made a lot of sense to me and while I always felt great when I was following it, I never really lost weight and eventually would get off track. This latest fall from primal has been particularly epic. I could rarely make it through one day without Wendy's, pizza or an occasional sugar binge. Plus more alcohol than I care to admit. I was at my highest weight ever, getting depressed and dreaded going into another summer uncomfortable in my skin.
So I'm trying again, and this time I'm using the gnolls.org approach. Less poultry and more fatty red meat. I started last Sunday 3/25 and I'm amazed that my cravings have been gone since day 1. I'm already sleeping better and I'm down 1.6 pounds. Hopefully I can keep it going!
Glad to have found you all here

Re: Hello from Virginia!
Welcome! I'm so happy you decided to join us. There are some nice folks here!
I just had to address this quoted part of your post:
I have never really lost weight on Primal. Not any significant amount, anyway. Sure, there's the ten pounds or so that fell off at the start but I highly suspect that was water. Anyway, my point is that I think there are bigger, more important effects of eating and living primally than weight alone. Primal makes me FEEL better - and that's enough for me. We're not all meant to be lean and mean and 120 lbs.

Re: Hello from Virginia!
Thanks for the welcome! I'm with you on wanting to feel better and I know I am not built to be super lean, but that said, I have too much body fat. I'm pretty sure it's above 30% at this point, so some of that needs to come off!
