It's new years day. I'm settling in for a long day of college football. A couple of hopefully good preliminary games, then the two big collegiate semi-final games, Oklahoma v Georgia and Clemson v Alabama.

I went to Ga Tech, so have no love lost for UGA. Nevertheless I'll be rooting for them against the Sooners.  Go Dawgs. If for no other reason, I love their mascot, the bulldog Uga

I almost went to Clemson, it was a close second to Tech on my college list. I've really enjoyed watching them develop into a perennial national power under coach Dabo Swinney. He's a rare dude, a totally not buttoned down coach whose emotions and dynamic energy are always on full display. So will be hoping they can win against the totally opposite in 'Bama and coach Nick Saban.

On to the championship game.
Alabama's defense throttled Clemson. Typical result for 'Bama who for years has won using defense.
Uga stunk up the field in the first half vs Oklahoma, came roaring back with their impressive run game and the two teams gave us a great Rose Bowl. With Uga winning.
Tonight, it will be UGA's vaunted ground game vs that stingy 'Bama defense. Pulling for the Dawgs in what will likely be a low scoring affair.
