Doc! So, so glad to see you here! I completely relate to the trials and tribulations of switching from night to day shift. I'm still coming to terms with it.

Carbs...grrrr....

My parents are from Glasgow and I love haggis! Smile Don't do oatmeal very much these days, though. But...I might have a Burns night.

AFAIK It refers to Robert Burns... the poet. Burns Supper. Jan 25th?

That's okay, I'm just an overeducated nurse practitioner not a "real" doc either, but I am a fellow Texan. Moved from far west Texas after 35 years to a bit north of Houston 6 years ago.

DH and I were both born in El Paso. He grew up there, I traveled the world. We met when I returned to attend UTEP. My mom grew up in Wink and met my dad when they attended Texas Western.

Still serving in Canadian Armed Forces. Nurse, (ER/ICU and flight). Currently facing medical release sometime in the next year or two, paperwork is in process. Most of my time has been with the Air Force, but deployed to Kandahar and Haiti.

What are you cooking up for Christmas dinner, doc? Slaughtered anything interesting lately?

One of my co-workers raised 22 chickens, 2 pigs, and a cow - did all the butchering himself, and didn't know what he was doing (by his own admission) and so there was a lot of waste. Then the power went out for 5 days...heartbreaking...

Merry Christmas all... have been hibernating for the last couple of days. Had a great meal on Christmas Eve with all the family and the grandkids and all of the chaos that goes with it.. I smoked a brisket and a deer blackstrap. Had a ham also and tons of high carb, not-even-close to Paleo foods. Enough desserts to feed a small army.. My son brought in some kolaches from a Czech bakery near where he lives.... needless to say my keto diet got wrecked in short order! Now that everyone has ventured back to their own homes, I can get back on track...
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and will have a very Happy New Year in 2018!
