Silicone for Cooking/Baking
Since we were talking about Silicone baking mats etc I found the attached article quite interesting. I looked due to Rig’s comment about believing he had heard something.

Take it for what it’s worth. For me, I was already avoiding the stuff, and this just seems to go along with what I was thinking.

Thanks for the link to the article. I have very few silicone cooking items but I'm now looking at them with a very doubtful eye ... I also don't really trust non-stick so it's back to good old stainless steel wherever possible!

It's my not so humble opinion with a reasonable science background that we worry too much. I read the linked story, which at least had citations. But it's like the research into artificial sweeteners. They probably ramped up siloxane doses to what would never happen in real life and ohmigod! found problems.
We are all carrying doses of heavy metals from once source or another. Or siloxanes. But are they affecting our health? It would be hard to prove that they are. Partly because at my age I don't care if non-sticks, silicones, whatever may have any affects. When I was young, my friends and I would follow the DDT fogging truck, breathing that in, a big joke.
Growing up post WWII, nuclear bombs were tested in the open air, I probably have a fair amount of radioactive isotopes in my body.
Do they affect me? I doubt it. The dose makes the poison. Toxicology 101. We all have far bigger issues to worry about.

+1 on playing in the DDT truck's fog, much to my mother's dismay. The DDT truck was a fairly common event in the Fl panhandle in the 1950's.
Your dosing comment reminds me of the first artificial sweetener I remember (name escapes me) that was pulled from the market because it was cancer causing. The dose used on the rats, when translated to humans would require you to drink 7 times your own body weight in soda pop every day.

I grew up in farm country. I can't even imagine how much DDT I was exposed to growing up.

Re: Silicone for Cooking/Baking
The reality is that DDT and the chemical family of which it is part of (chlorinated hydrocarbons???) do not affect us. It's like birds don't have a capacain, hot pepper, receptor. No heat experienced from hot pepper seeds.
You may recall that what DDT did after only two decades in the environment was cause bird egg shells to be soft and the chicks died. It didn't help that DDT was blown all over in huge quantities, like with crop dusters. It is still legal to be made and used and is one of the best fighters of malaria. Not by spraying like our old DDT trucks, but just spraying the inside walls of a house.
Rig, my experience was in Sarasota, FL. Hence my screen name, On The Bayou. The county now uses traps all over which are checked regularly. When they see an uptick of squitters, they use a GPS guided airplane for selective spraying. In the old days, it was OK, roll out the truck, we are getting complaints. The new way is much more effective.
