Return To Primal Movements Empty Return To Primal Movements

Post by ONTARIO Tue Jan 01, 2019 4:00 pm

Since we have a Return To Primal foods thread perhaps a Return To Primal Movements (RTPM) thread could also prove motivational.

Primal Exercise should consist of lots of low-level aerobic activity and occasionally sprinting and living heavy things:

https://www.marksdailyapple.com/health-benefits-moderate-exercise/

https://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-workout-plan-basics/

Here is our RTPM place to share how our daily activity is meeting PB standards.

So, what did YOU do today for a Primal Blueprint workout?

Walking has become more of a whole body movement as I try not to slip and fall on the ice and snow around campus...

Climbing gym date today!

Ok, lets see if we can get some activity here.

I’m continuing my 10000 steps. I am back to my LHT WO’s with DS and I’ve started a None to Run program. Don’t plan on a lot of running all the time, just a few miles a few times a week to keep my cardio fitness in check.

I might toss in a 5k race here and there. DDIL wants me to do one the beginning of May. We will see if I can get there by then or not.

Also attempting to get in yoga 2x a week.

What’s everyone else doing.

Food may be bad, but workouts remain good!

On Monday, I completed my 4th year of climbing the "Snowcone" - a steep cinder cone just south of my home - at least once per month. I frequently do more than once a month, but sometimes I let it get away from me and then I'm scrambling to get it done at the end of the month in nasty conditions, or that memorable time when I had to do it  the day after having done a 24 hour event where I walked over 70 miles.

Rock gym climbing 1-2 times per week, walking most days, and just starting to get back to some light weight workouts.

I LOVE exercise and movement. Why can't the food part of this be like exercise????

Good idea, NM.

I got down and did 10 push ups this morning. I haven't don't them for a long time, but I have been hanging off the swing frame intermittently and perhaps that's what has kept me able.

My, at least 10k steps/day, streak continues. Averaging 16,600/day this month. Lifting weights 2-3 times a week continues also. I'm working on stretching more.

That's awesome!

I am also continuing my 10,000 steps pretty religiously.

My steps are in for the day and I did my running program this morning. Yoga has not happened yet today, maybe move that to tomorrow.

My goal for today is to move more today than I did yesterday. I tend to get up from my desk every hour and wander around. I will also go outside for walks mid-morning and mid-afternoon. It is just so cold out there today! It just doesn't get down to 11 degrees very often around here, but the sun is shining and the last I checked there was no wind.

I have a lot of desk work to do today, but I'm going to attempt to take a break every hour. Also, I intend to take at least a short, brisk walk outside today (weather permitting), or on my treadmill. I want to get back to wearing my FitBit and hitting 10K steps a day. Now if I can only find the thing... lol

You let your Fitbit get away????? Horrors! (Only partly joking, I am fairly neurotic about mine.)

Good luck at creating or renewing that habit!

I actually tracked it down today! I was afraid I'd lost it, but it was sitting on a shelf, buried under some stuff. Tomorrow, I'll be starting up again with my walking habit.

Laughing I had to laugh because I was also horrified reading that. I think I'd break out in a cold sweat if I couldn't find my FitBit. Laughing

I have to concur with Ontario and M2M. I’d also break into a cold sweat. I forgot it the day of the funeral, as I had it charging while I got ready to go. I was literally lost w/o it. Smile

As for primal movement, yesterday was LHT and this morning, walk with doggie and my N2R.

I would break into a sweat if I was required to wear a fitbit! Smile I had one last October for a week and promptly lost. I left it in my hotel room when I checked out. I must say, I don't miss it at all. I felt completely tied to it.

There was a lot of dancing at our house yesterday as hubs put in a CD he found at Goodwill with music for cardio. Full disclosure, our dancing looks a lot like stepping in place. LOL! Did a DVD too so got on SE kicking, lunges and squats.
Chores included splitting wood and digging out the basement stairwell (drifted snow).
Today we will head to the climbing gym

At least your stepping in place doesn't look like mine, the Walking Dead with spastic tendencies. Smile

Nah, Rig. I am guessing there is a smidge of rhythm in there!  "you gotta swing those hips now"

Ugh - pushups the other day and I am sore!  Clearly, I've been slacking...

Sorry Shelly - LHT= Lift Heavy Things
N2R=None to Run program

And I did not get back to my run program today. My left knee has been talking to me, so I decided to give it another day break before trying to run again. I’d rather take a short week now, than be done for a long time later.
