GS -- I know you are bummed about getting a CPAP.  I have begun using mine again after my last annual check my dr. pleaded with me to use it.  I had not ever followed through with the mouth appliance like the one you have.

I only have the pillow and it really works just fine.  It is better for your health and organs to be oxygenated properly.

Having a really good vacay so far. Being with dear friends makes a huge difference. Had a decent cry in her arms last night...all good. We have two units with kitchens us ground level and them upstairs. First night dinner out, cooking in the other days. Steak, bratwurst, butter chicken. Took cog train to summit of Mt Washington yesterday, great adventure.
All good, card games in evening. And CPAP seems to be working, I’m tolerating the mask, hubby isn’t hearing any snoring, so may be okay.

Glad you are having a great time. I know that being around people who love and support you and most of all are not afraid of emotions and true feelings is so important in healing. Those folks are the best.

Interesting to read of your experience in a float tank. Don't think I could do ti with so many mental things I'd want to keep at bay. Glad it helped you.

Am around, but distracted by appointments and therapy crap. Holiday was lovely. Perhaps 2 weeks early to see the best of fall colours, as they were just turning close to splendid as we left. Will be back hopefully soon, just a lot going on here. Am ok.

Hope things are going well.  I'm guessing that you are being medically retired?  If I did not "see" you on FB, I would be more worried when you don't check in here.

Kathi, you are correct. News came this week. Mixed feelings for sure, despite realistically knowing it would be the end result. What remains undetermined is if my medical team determines I need more time for medical treatment to transition to the civilian system before early April, which is where it currently stands.

I completely understand the mixed feelings.  You were/are very good at the job and now you are being told you cannot do it.  The civilian world remains an unknown and while you have retirement plans, I am not sure you are ready to not do any work.  Maybe you can sit down and write out the things you are looking forward to doing when you are a civilian.  It might help you adapt.

Pedi has a good idea since the transition is odd.  It takes a while to adapt to a different way of thinking.  And, saying this, I know it is completely different from a military point of view.  Best wishes for you to begin your transition.

Best wishes for a smooth transition out of the military.

And a big +1 on the different way of thinking. If you plan on a post retirement career, I strongly suggest that when you prepare your resume, you find a trusted civilian person in your field to go over it with you. Back when I was an occasional hiring person, I frequently had real difficulty when reviewing a resume with "only" military experience, trying to translate what they had done and could contribute into terms that relate to the "civilian" world.

Keeping you in my prayers as you go through this transition. I have absolutely no idea what you face, and no advice other than whats been given. Hugs as you decide how to proceed forward.

Yes, I agree with the others. I'm not sure if it is at all similar - but when I was forced to stopped working last year due to my health issues it took me a while to accept and deal with the emotions. Its the matter of "choice" that was the hardest for me. Although, it wasn't others telling me to stop working, it was my own limitations dictating the choice. Anyway - I guess I'm saying I kinda get it.

My advice would be - take your time. From here the choices all belong to you.

Big changes. You've given so much of yourself to your career. But I can't help but be a bit excited for you. That old saw about one door closing and another one opening - It's actually true! Take care -

After many year of experience, I'm sure a high percentage of your skills are transferable.  It may be you won't see what is possible until you transfer into civilian life.  Some doors don't even appear on the horizon or you can't see them until you move forward.

I'm sure you will find a great situation that will use your knowledge.

Thank you all for your comments and thoughts. I do keep up a bit with Pedidoc via FB, so she knows it’s an unsettling time of year. That said, therapy is an interesting pursuit. Ups, downs, rampant emotions, tears, and the occasional epiphany. All the while tempered with new psychiatrist changing up med regime. I do believe things are on a positive path overall. There may be an upcoming art therapy group through my mental health dept upcoming, which I look forward to. Aside from individual therapy and GP stuff, am also in a womens only cognitive processing group at the OSI (occupational stress injury) clinic. 8 weeks into a 12 week program. Intensive, difficult, and good.

Will be back...
