Thanks, NM. I am home and have had two doses of the steroids. The itching is better.

Home sweet home. Stopped at the store as planned on my way home. Picked up steaks and fixings for Sunday's dinner. I really wanted to go to bed, but I am forcing myself to stay up until a normal bedtime so I can be on a normal sleep schedule.

Steroids for a few days won't be so bad. It will make you more comfortable. One less thing to deal with as you heal.

I'd hoped the hydrocortisone cream would work, but no success there. I agree that in the scheme of things the steroids are a lesser evil.

I've baked a batch of bacon and done two loads of laundry.

Bacon was for dinner!

If I baked an entire package of bacon, I’d probably eat the whole thing at one go. I’ll stick to my few strips as needed method in the fry pan. Smile

Happy to hear the steroids are kicking in, and that the issue will quickly resolve now.

Oh my! Not good. Glad you got the steroids.

I have had awful bouts with poison ivy and know the "no scratching" is difficult. However, with a wound....cannot imagine.

Hope you are home safely and in some comfortable clothes....

Did not go to sleep until after DH left for work around 4 am. I could not get comfortable, settled, whatever. Slept for about 4 hours and got up to take care of dogs and stuff, rescheduled spa appointment for Tuesday. Now I think I will be going back to bed for a nice nap to catch up on sleep.

Finally had decent sleep last night. Really did not want to get up with my alarm, but I wanted to clean up before DH chauffeurs me around to do errands (I took T3s last night). Hope to drop off some returns, the schnauzers are getting touch-ups, and we are going to Costco. Other than that not much planned for the day. Probably try and concentrate on some work reading.

Sounds like a busy day for someone not yet two weeks post op. Hopefully you’ll come home and take a nice long nap.

Sourced more bacon (the good stuff) and a large beef tenderloin that I cut into filets at Costco. I got 12 2" thick filets for less $ then 3 cut by them. Napped on the couch until the dogs were ready.

Stayed in bed late this morning. My back is really bothering me, which makes it difficult to get comfortable. The drain is still having too much drainage, so will not be getting it out tomorrow. I should do some grading and other odds and ends, but I do not feel like it, so will put them off until tomorrow now that I will not be making a trip to the surgeon.

Dinner will be steaks, mushrooms, onions, oven potatoes, and salad. DH will have a slice of cheesecake (he gives up all sweets for Lent, so usually I bake, but I did not this year).

Years ago I took a bad fall rollerblading, and the doc put adhesive stuff all over my road rash...you guessed it...bad allergy. Thought I would go out of my mind! Yes, I took steroids.

A couple of days ago I unknowingly stood on a stinging ant colony - I itched so badly, scratched myself raw. I went to the chemist (translation: pharmacy) and got some itch stuff. It helps a little, but the only real relief is to stand in the shower. Also swimming or at least wading in the ocean helps a lot too. Of course not everyone has an ocean available! Smile. Even though I have one a couple of blocks away, it's still a bit of a project as I can only go at high tide unless I want to walk across half a mile of mud flat. (NO)

Sleep was good, but I woke up frequently to potty, which is not normal for me. Felt off most of the day, maybe because of the meds. Rescheduled drain removal to Wednesday as it is draining too much still. Bit of a mess to clean up this morning as the tubing kinked in the night.

I did get my grading done and the bills paid. Worked on some odds and ends from the bed and then did an interview and a conference call also from the bed.

Sheet pan chicken with onions and peppers over caulirice was for dinner.

Re: Moving Forward Toward Better Health

Another day, another night of okay sleep.

Oldest son is as I type doing his oral board to see if his current agency will send him to the academy to become a full-fledged officer. Praying he gets it as it would be a significant pay raise and open his opportunities.

I am going to have to call the surgeon's office and reschedule my appointment for drain removal as I went way up yesterday and this morning I am already at the minimum amount. I am not moving my spa day Thursday, I will just go with a drain.

I have bunches on my calendar for today. Tomorrow I have to get up and out the door by 5:30 and take breakfast for the group (poor planning, but done long ago). I want to get showered and hair washed this afternoon and do a grocery run for fresh fruit and sausages. I will add that to some of the baked goods I have in the freezer from Felix. I need to spend a couple of hours prepping for the meeting tomorrow but can do that from the bed. So maybe without looking at my calendar and just thinking about what I must get done, it is not too bad. Leftovers for dinner, as DH is on an overnight tomorrow for training.

I sure wish you could take it easier than you are. At least you are not getting bored.

sorry about the drainage. I suppose the body is trying to take care of itself although what do I know?

Take care Pedi
