TW you sound fabulous! I can hear all the the excitement and joy in your post. I found myself smiling and getting quite happy as I read all of your good news!

The fact you were able to run, even a few steps, let alone a few minutes with fresh surgery is a testament to how well it went.

Those tights do sound like a win.

And I’m stealing your note to self Smile

Congrats on deciding on the Charge 3. I went with the graphite, thought it would match more, even with other bands, I hope I’m right.

Ok, when my little island makes it to that part of the world, I’m going to dinner with you at that place. It sounds wonderful.

Congrats on the surgery outcome, I'm very happy for you that things are moving along so well.

I don't know how much of a scar you have from the surgery, but with my knee replacement in July I've used a product called Mederma Advanced Scar Gel. You use it on the scar once a day as soon as your surgery bandages come off. My knee scar is pretty much gone and is still fading away to nothing at a pretty good clip. I highly recommend the Scar Gel to you, it is pretty pricey, about $20 US for a 20 gram tube, but you don't use much at all on the scar and it is well worth the cost.

Thanks again, all! I continue to do very, very well. So happy! I can’t wait to start physio and get back to normal. I can take the dressing off on Friday, obviously the incision won’t be healed, but it will be well on the way. I’m so happy to have feeling back in my fingers, and relief from the chronic pain.

Slept great last night despite having slept several hours during the day. Maybe some leftover anaesthetic.

I am so glad to read how well things are going!

Just make sure you are getting enough protein to help with healing.

Just changed the dressing - my first time around I had a pro do it , actually I never had to! This time around I left the hospital without any information at all! I was too whacked out on anaesthetic to question anything. So I asked Dr Google, not that it’s hard. Also I remember the first go round. It was kind of gross, lots of dried blood. But it was okay and more comfortable as the dried bloody bandage was pulling on the incision.

Watching Julie and Julia, enjoying it very much. Dream is at a business dinner.

Good job changing you dressing. Tough to do one handed sometimes. Pleased to hear the healing continues.

Well, I guess my handiwork is not so good as my wrist is quite painful, probably my dressing is rubbing. I put a compression sleeve over it, that helps. I used to be amazed at seeing people wearing compression garments, wondering how they could stand it, not realising that sometimes one can’t stand not to!

Missed an opportunity last night - Dream was at a dinner so I just ate leftovers. Why didn’t I cook myself a nice meal? Duh. I did enjoy the film though, and he wouldn’t have liked it. He has only a vague notion of who Julia Child was.

TW, take it easy - I know you feel good, but remember your body still needs time to rest and heal.

Yes you do! If you take care of yourself now, you will heal quicker overall. Do the exercises you are supposed to do, nothing more and nothing less! And eat well, including extra protein. I know I am telling you nothing new but sometimes we need a reminder.

Lots of healing thoughts coming at you!

After dealing with this injury for months, and now having it feel better, I can well imagine that it is hard to hold back. But, do go easy on yourself. I hate to bring this up but as someone who gets hurt on a regular basis, we are now at an age when it takes that bit longer to heal properly. Give yourself time!

Really enjoyed Julie & Julia too. The book also. I mean, 'My year of cooking dangerously'? What's not to like about that. Smile

So right - I need to chill on the activity. I am also sleeping soundly for at least nine hours a night! Ten if I can. Dream thinks I am sleeping too much. I’ve told him that is impossible, if I’m sleeping well and waking up feeling rested I’m good. He’s unconvinced:(

I bought this old Japanese music box at the market for $5 and I’m kinda obsessed with it. Not sure why. It’s old and well loved and obviously handmade. The lid and sides are hand painted with inlaid mother of pearl, and the mirror inside is hand painted. The latch is finely detailed metal, very pretty. It has a little music box that needs oiling but plays well. I don’t recognise the tune. I don’t usually like old beat up things, but I like this.

Today is one week! Hand/wrist very good, every day a little better. So relieved there is not just light at the end of the tunnel, I'm actually leaving the tunnel.

A little setback on the running program. Last week I only got out twice, and when I tried yesterday my knees were very sore (not swollen at all though). So I tried again today with my knees wrapped. Way too sore! I was going to give up, but instead I shortened my stride and slowed way down. It was okay, and now an hour later my knees feel fine. I am going to repeat Week 2 as obviously I'm not ready to go on. Three steps forward...two steps back...but that's how it is.

Now that my hand is healing it is time to think about employment. Not sure what I want to do or where to start.

Walrus - lovely little music box. I am a big believer that things come to us for a reason. We may never know what that reason is, maybe just to bring you joy. Employment - what have you done in the past, before your injury?

What an awesome report TW. Happy to hear that wrist is healing nicely.

So sorry about the knees. Hopefully next time out they will feel better. Check your shoes, and if you haven’t gone to an actual running store and been fitted, I would do so. It can make all the difference. Also, the shoes can look fine on the outside but we too worn down on the inside.
