I'm impressed, continued cold showers and pistol squats. Good on you. Not there yet.

Ah the bloating of grains, assuming that burger was on a bun.

Grok on my friend!

Re: Simply Primal - Annie Tries Again

Today's hike was glorious.  We received some welcome rain last night but today was clear blue skies and hot temps again.  We crossed a swaying swingbridge high over a river, then headed on upwards through the bush for a couple of hours.  We emerged above the bushline and traversed the mountain, including a major slip and a couple of smaller ones.

Slightly off track we knew of a little trig.  We found the trail to it has been cleared somewhat since we were last there but the trig itself has gone!  Weird.

The final section of track leading back to our car was officially closed due to storm damage.  We decided it couldn't be more dangerous than walking down the road, which twists and turns, and is very narrow and populated by too many tourists who forget our road rules.

We were right.  The track had several logs across it, and one small section slipped away.  But nothing worse than what we had already encountered on tracks that are still officially open, and nothing that couldn't be cleared in a day or so by a guy with a chainsaw. The storms were months ago but no money has been made available for this yet.  Frustrating.

Back to our car 6 hours after departure.  A very good workout and beautiful day.

I am so jealous you have a friend who will hike with you....real hikes I mean.

What is a trig?

Beautiful skies, area, and you.

A trig is placed on a high point for survey reasons.
The ones we usually see are like a giant teepee.  That's why it's strange that it wasn't there any more.  I mean, where can it go?

I guess the word comes from trigonometry

I see, thanks for educating me and others!

I am so thrilled you are still doing pistol squats....never tried one. My legs are strong but I bet it takes abdominal strength which I have never had.

I didn't even have the strength to attempt a single pistol squat today, too many steps already.

But I did have another cold shower, that's up to five now I think. Soon it will be a week's worth.

Annie the scenery is just stunning! It is so awesome you get to hike there. Guess I'm a bit too close to the city here Sad. Thank you so much for sharing. I close my eyes and picture myself climbing with you.

After that hike I would not be able to do squats either.

Grok on my friend!

Another pic from this week's hike.  I asked my friend to wait while I photographed the rock and the daisies.  Haha, there were rocks and daisies everywhere -
but I knew which one I meant.

By the way the trig pic is not mine, I am not sure where that was taken, but it is just like many that we do see.

Fabulous - We have trig points in the UK but they are often stone towers. I don't think they are used anymore for mapping. Technology has taken over.

That boulder reminds me of the Appalachian Trail hike I took for the first time in 2004 or so. We were in Maryland.

Beautiful picture that shows so much more than a boulder!

Wow, Annieh! What a lovely trail and so close to the snow cap. What fabulous views! There is nothing like experiencing the vast wide open space above and around. I can feel myself standing there and all the neurochemicals that make me happy when I (hopefully sooner than later will again) hike. Thanks for posting and please keep doing so.

I am happy that people enjoy my pix. Personally I love it when people post their travel pix on Facebook, I can sit here at the bottom of the earth and tag along as they go through Europe, or Asia.

Fresh home kill pork has made its way to my freezer again.  This makes me so happy!!! My BIL has a friend who raises them, he helps dispatch and then shares half of one with me Smile

So last night we had a big slab of pork belly, with roast veges, and crackling, and gravy and apple sauce.  Yummo.

Today's breakfast was fresh beetroot (including the leaves) and broccoli from the garden, with a little leftover potato and onion and spoonful of gravy.  Yum again.  I feel too well fed right now.

I made it to a week of cold showers, they are starting to feel normal.

The slip:

Annie will you adopt me? I'd love to live somewhere that has these kinds of hikes and views. They make me feel relaxed and happy inside. Thank you.

NM, absolutely. I know that you are totally tied down at present but if you can ever ever make it to this part of the world, please come and stay. I will take you out in nature as much as you like. Meanwhile, I am glad you like the pix, I really am.

Mmm, tonight I cut a piece of pork into chunks, browned in the pan, poured over a dressing of pineapple juice with honey and a little soya sauce, oven baked till done and thickened the sauce a bit. It was fantastic. Served on steamed fresh cabbage from my sister's garden. The pork so fatty and sauce so sweet that I did not add rice or potatoes.

Here's another pic from my hike on Monday. We are scheming a long day next week, thanks to assistance from newly licensed teenage daughter who will be able to drop us off one end and pick us up the other. Payback time for all the rides I've given her over the years.

You live in what appears to be the most beautiful place on earth... great pics are a given. Thanks for sharing them!

There's something special about mountain pictures though, like M2M's pictures show.

One sunny day we were up in the snow and I could see nothing on my camera screen due to the glare, but I pointed it in various directions and clicked the shutter anyway. Every shot was a winner, I just could not go wrong that day!
