Kind of rare that the follow-up on this was over 44 years. Keep moving ladies!

No surprise, and I bet the same applies for men.
I don't recall many centenarians responding to the question "what is the secret to your long life and sharp mind?" with something like "sitting on the couch, watching a lot of TV, and eating bon-bons."

LOL, RigD. I did, however, read an article where one 105 yr old man attributed his longevity to the whiskey he put in his morning tea and evening lemonade. affraid

I am hoping it applies to men as my plan is to drag my spouse right along with me into old age and I would much prefer he kept his wits about him. Very Happy

"exciting because it's possible that improving people's cardiovascular fitness in middle age could delay or even prevent them from developing dementia..."  That's like NOW for me.

Absolutely has something great to do with reversing cognitive decline.  This study is very encouraging in reversal of memory issues as they begin.  The case studies are particularly interesting.

Me Too! At least I like to think that at age 70 I'm in middle age. No doubt that eating healthy and getting exercise has got to help. Potentially fading away into "no brain" is possibly the most scary thing about growing older. I do have one advantage, this doesn't seem to be in my dna, all my relatives who made it from 80 to >100 were still mentally sharp as tacks when they passed.

If he was Indian, he might be Srinath's great granddad? Smile

Laughing Nope. Jack 'The Lad' Reynolds from Derbyshire UK (turned 106 in April btw): "Work hard, always smile, get plenty of fresh air and last but not least have a tot of Grouse whisky in your tea in the morning and a tot before bed." Also "Eight, twelve, and four (o’clock) are the times of his three meals, every single day."

As they say, move it or lose it. I guess we need to add and lose your brain as well.

Hopefully the work I can do will help me by right now I’d say I fit the moderate group.
