Is Firefox just being snarky?

Post by Paysan on Tue Mar 13, 2018 12:12 am

So I went to long onto this website, and as soon as I typed my user name, a warning message from Firefox flashed up that "this connection is not secure."What's more, when I tried to finish the login, I was taken to the Firefox (Mozilla) site and given a verbal spanking for daring to have an insecure connection. I know they have my best interests at heart, which is why I use this particular browser, but I can't figure out whether they are warning against Primalforums, or my entire login. Anybody know what to do in this situation?

I also get the "not secure" thing when I log in. I believe it is a function of PF, not anything on your end. I also use Firefox and have never had it redirect me into their site for anything else. I'm on a PC with Win10.

The message about not being secure also shows on a number of other sites I visit that require a login process, none of which have anything on them where I have any concerns about security. Sites like my banking site never show any issues, which is what one would expect from a site with serious confidential stuff.

What to do? I suspect it is a one off with the redirecting and would not worry about it. I would experiment with ending my current session, closing firefox and then trying it again and see if it is recurring.

The 'not secure' thing is connected to it being http vs https... Firefox being protective towards users by also showing the padlock icon with warning in front of the address when on a page with login and no https. MDA had it too, ever since the last 'improvement'...

Banking and other important sites that ask for personal info pretty much always use https hence no warning.

Just make sure you don't use the same password for everything... which I'm pretty sure you don't, but you never know.

Well, I got on this time from a redirect in my email , use W10, don't use same password for everything. I shall try the regular logon next.
