Ok Rig, time to cast out another idea, one I’m sure you’ve already checked. Her jewelry box. You were out, so chances are she had earrings or necklace on?

Or her make up bag/where she keeps her make up remover.

Still praying they show up

October Monthly Update

No good results this month, the best that can be said is I didn't lose much ground.  However, the month end weight is pretty much the bottom of the range, I ballooned up over 240 for a good portion of the month and only saw it drop back down in the last few days. I've now been in the 237-240 range since August.

DW's hearing aids are still MIA. We have thoroughly searched for them throughout the house and including the places you all have suggested. They are nowhere to be found. She is opting to try out some hearing amplifiers, they should arrive today and we'll see if they are a worthwhile buy, or if she will need to buy new hearing aids. I don't know if I mentioned it before, but she has given up the part time job she's had for over 10 years selling women's clothes at Chicos.  All in all, that was a good move, it gives her time for a lot of volunteer stuff and to be more active in our church, where she is a new elder.  I'm really enjoying not hearing her vent about all the foibles at the store. But we are now under pretty severe financial pressure.  I'm looking for work to bring in some extra cash and keep us afloat. Not going well so far.

My older GS and his high school band competed in a major regional band competition in St. Louis last week, they did well, finishing 17 out of nearly 80 bands. Not good enough to make the finals but they were really pleased with the performance. What an outing, they arrived back at 6 AM on Sunday morning, 7 charter buses for the band, color guard, and adults. One 18 wheeler and 2 panel trucks for the gear.  He turned 16 while there. He still has no interest in driving. The high school football team finished 7-3, and last week beat a one loss team 14-7 giving them their second loss for the year. So we squeaked into the state playoffs and tomorrow is the first playoff game and their opponent is the same team they just beat.  Their win last week was a pretty big upset, so don't know if they can repeat. I've never experienced a back to back situation against the same team before.

I finally heard from my last cousin about the hurricane situation. She came through relatively unscathed, many houses in her neighborhood were pretty much destroyed, but her house suffered only minor damage. The power seems to be on all over the county now, but she still doesn't have cell service. So all my extended family came through the hurricane unhurt, one will have to rebuild her home, and the others all have extensive damage.

Pam, yes you need McAfee or a similar antivirus type program to keep unwanted crap off your PC.
I've been a McAfee user for a long, long time and have never had problems with viruses or other stuff infecting my PC. McAfee isn't the cheapest option but I continue to think it is worthwhile.

wow some special school stuff going on in your neck of the woods.

So sorry the hearing aids never turned up. I hope the hearing amplifiers work for your DW.

Hang in there Rig, the weight will move again.

Mostly I’m just happy to see you back around the forum. Smile

Glad to read this. I cannot imagine losing a home like many have. Awesome to know your family is safe.
I've found things behind furniture next to door things that pop off. You've probably heard tons of "hlost item ideas". But, often my lost stuff turns out near where I switched clothes from evening wear to comfys. May be near there, on floor, behind....something, perhaps.....Hope you find them, soon.

Re: Rig D's 2018 weight and health campaign

Post by Rig D on Wed Nov 07, 2018 9:04 am

I had my first problem at the polls in Ohio y'day. I gave 'em my DL for ID, signed in and got my voter card and went to the machine. Inserted the card and it was rejected 'cause the card "had already voted." This caused about a 10 minute delay when I took the card back to the desk, the poll worker had to get the supervisor over to figure out how to straighten things out. Essentially I had to re-do the voter-id process. My wife always votes paper ballot and for the first time in history she finished a long time before I did.

I like Ohio's positive voter ID process, I think it greatly reduces the opportunity for fraudulent voting. But we are one of many states pushing vote by mail, which I believe opens up potential problems. IMHO, you should only be able to vote by mail if you are physically incapable of going to the polls or have a legit out of town excuse. To further that cause, I'm in favor of election day being a holiday so people have a better opportunity to drag their lazy butts to the polls. On that front, our school system was closed y'day for election day, gotta get those kids to the polls dontcha know.

And, of course, being an old fart reactionary as I am, I would prefer to see us go to paper ballots and purple thumb dye instead of the computer terminals we have now. I don't believe in the security of the computerized process. I worked too many years in the computer field, and have witnessed too many security violations in the internet age to have much faith in the out-sourced vendors doing things right. Because "it's not how you vote that counts, it's how the votes you cast are counted that counts"

Ohio Gov, other state offices went solidly R. Our incumbent supposed senator Sherrod "SureWoodHead" Brown was a huge winner on the D side. No surprise there, he is on far left bleeding edge and his opponent was not impressive. My house district re-elected R Mike Turner for his 9th term. He works diligently on behalf of Wright Pat AFB and it looks like as long the money flows to WPAFB he has a lifetime sinecure.

I have worked elections here, in Ontario. We have paper ballots but a computerized voter check-in system. The computerized check-in system was used for the first time this spring. It was far superior to the old system of using a ruler and pen to strike out people's names on the voter's list. It tracks voters better and allows a new voter, not yet on the list, to be manually entered into the database so the government can track anyone who potentially voted, or tried to vote, more than once. In the old system you could, technically, vote early and vote often. Wink

And yes, I hear you on the "bleeding edge". Rolling Eyes  Move to Canada and experience North America's finest socialist country with the world's largest social safety net. Hey, it "only" costs us about $270 BILLION a year. Evil or Very Mad  And people wonder why I would denounce my Canadian citizenship to move to the U.S.A.. Here, in Canada, the bleeding hearts have the average Joe, full-time worker, paying taxes to support the equivalent to having an additional two mouths to feed. It's ridiculous. Just welfare alone costs us $25 BILLION a year. And that doesn't even count anyone on disability (which is VERY lax here! Many "disabled" able-bodied people collecting that every month!), Ontario Works (between jobs) Unemployment Insurance, or Immigrant allotments, or Aboriginal Affairs allotments. In short, Canada is drowning.....

A Socialist based economy is not sustainable. I wish the liberals in the USA would pull their heads out of their -- um......... well, you know what I mean - and realize that!!! At some point - the system will collapse in on itself. When you've got 60% of the population supporting the other 40% - it ain't gonna work.

Ontario - don't be too eager to come to the USA - we are not far behind Canada. Getting a stronger "right" conservative Congress is our only hope. If the Democrat's get a strong majority we're screwed. Open borders, "single-payer" health care, and an ever expanding welfare system will be the end of us. Not to mention all the law abiding citizens will have to turn over their fire arms - while the scum bags rob and kill us in broad day light. The far left are so blind they can't see the writing on the wall.

I know Trump is not a popular guy - but his ideas on how to run the country are a far cry better than the last moron and his wife who "played" president for 8 years. They don't call him OBummer for nothing. I hear rumors that Hillary is planning to run again in 2020. I wonder how many more people will mysteriously turn up dead after coming up against her. Funny how so many who were going to testify against her committed suicide - and some by "gunshot to the back of the head". How does that work? We have such blatant corruption in our government - it makes my head spin! The Clinton's are the new Mafia - yet, the left seems to think they are the saving grace of our country.

Okay - enough ranting about that.

Rig you are lucky you are in OH. PA for the most part didn’t do so well.

The only thing I can say for the election results is nothing is going to get done now. With the house leaning one way and the senate the other, its going to be a lot of stalemate.

Rig I find it interesting that you came up as “already Voted”. I wonder how your clone voted, but I bet I can guess.

To clarify, I didn't have a clone vote. According to a poll worker friend I talked to last night, the problem I encountered was a fairly common one. The little "credit cards" that activate the voting machines get used and reused all day and the one I had simply did not get properly reset after the last person voted, and had to be cleared out and re-initialized. Just guessing here, but perhaps the chip in it carries the information on how the last vote was cast. Don't know why that would ever be needed but that's my guess. Not sure why I had to go through the re-registration process as part of the cure.

Pedi -- Back in the early 70's an Atlanta based co-worker had a solution to the welfare state. You simply assign each recipient to a tax payer, then require that they go collect their payments in person. He said the situation would rectify in no time at all.

NM: Got a good laugh from your comment, it is the absolutely first time I've ever been told I was lucky to be in Ohio. Ohio is OK and does some things pretty well, but it is like Denny's -- It is not the kind of place you go to, it is the kind of place you end up at.

Jeff Sessions has now finally recused himself from all involvement.

Guess you heard they are taking about Beto being in the race for 2020 as a good bet for the presidency. Lots of work to be done.

Rig - you state came out of this much better. However, having lived here all my life, I generally know the result we will get. Sometimes I question even going to the polls, but I keep praying and voting.

Oh and there is much stew going on about Jeff Sessions, the media says he was “fired”. Anything to get people riled up.

However, if the house starts with a bunch of @#$, they will have no idea what hit them when they get punched back.

I believe the AG and most everyone else that the Prez appoints serve "at the pleasure of the Prez." I'd guess he, and all his predecessors for years and years have had a file of signed, undated resignation letters in the Oval Office, ready to activate whenever desired. I do find it humorous that the D's are so wound up about Trump doing what he's entitled to do.  IMO they have very short, highly selective memories.

In the meantime, in far left leaning Broward County,(Fort Lauderdale area) Fl. where I lived for nearly 4 yrs in Plantation, the D's are still "counting votes" and bringing in their legal teams.  Every friggin election cycle since "Hangin' Chad", they are the last county in, and frequently have to recruit Justin Nuff to locate all those extra ballots to ensure victory. I wonder how many of these incidents are down there? https://nypost.com/2018/11/08/florida-teacher-finds-provisional-ballot-box-in-storage-area/

when will we find a nation-wide efficient and secure way to vote and count the votes? Hand counting IMO is not secure or efficient. Computers can be tampered with........ I don't know.

I would agree --- memories are so very short, and selective. Clinton and Obummer both gave eloquent speaches on the explicit need to protect our borders! But when Trump says it, he's a racist, and a nazi and should be gutted in to public square!
